New immigrants Cindy, Gili & Aspen arrive at Ellis Island Ben Gurion
Exhausted from the three month boat trip 10-hour flight
Awaiting the screening which might lead to rejection and a return back to the Pale of Settlement their complimentary taxi to anywhere in Israel
We Made It!

The airport was pretty simple; they took our 6 giant bags no problem when we told them we were aliyah, had us pay for Aspen’s flight, and then didn’t even glance at Aspen’s paperwork after that. Security was easy, the woman was satisfied, albeit a little baffled when I told her my congregation in NJ is “secular humanist.” Our plane itself was huge and PACKED with Birthright Israel trips. At least 200 18-27 year olds.
We were staying at Ordo Sounsar in Palolem Beach in Goa, India. It is a lovely place to stay that we highly recommend. Since we had arrived as the season was kicking off they had yet to build the bridge over the river. During high tide we needed to be ferried across.
It was twice as fun to be ferried in the dark.
The bridge that was constructed afterwards was also quite fun as it was rickety and felt like it might collapse under your feet.
We filmed another video but this one is better.
On our camel safari from Jaiselmer in Rajasthan, India we stopped a couple of times for the camels to fill up on water. That’s Cindy in her orange turban. When we arrived the trough was already filled. After the camels had their fill we had to fill up the trough by pulling a rope attached to a bucket that went a good 100 feet down. With of us pulling, tt took about 15 pulls of the bucket to fill up the trough.
The idea is that if you happen to arrive at the well in desperate need of water you have water immediately available. This could save your life.

Warning: Cheesy beach sunset photos
The beach, the beach, finally the beach
it rained the first three evenings we were here
fortunately it was night
yet it made for some great pictures of beach, sea and clouds
