With only a head lamp as (minor) reassurance that we weren’t actually descending into hell herself, we fearlessly followed spiral steps carved INTO THE FLOOR of this 800 year old fortress We soon understood that all those rat squeaks were not from rats at all To the Batmobile! (yes, they were totally hanging upside down…that’s the CEILING)

Ulpan Update
Ulpan is one of the most fascinating, challenging and awesome environments I’ve ever been in. Everyday, my brain explodes between the hours of 8am-12:30pm. Not counting the hours of homework.

We were staying at Ordo Sounsar in Palolem Beach in Goa, India. It is a lovely place to stay that we highly recommend. Since we had arrived as the season was kicking off they had yet to build the bridge over the river. During high tide we needed to be ferried across. It was twice as fun to be ferried in the dark. On our camel safari from Jaiselmer in Rajasthan, India we stopped a couple of times for the camels to fill up on water. That’s Cindy in her orange turban. When we arrived the trough was already filled. After the camels had their fill we had to fill up the trough by pulling a rope attached to a bucket that went a good 100 feet down.
